Diagnostics and Workbooks

DSM V

The DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition) is the standard classification system used by mental health professionals to diagnose and categorize mental disorders based on specific criteria and symptom patterns. The DSM-5 is primarily used in the United States, but it's also widely referenced internationally—especially in research, insurance billing, and clinical settings—though some countries may rely more heavily on the World Health Organization’s ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases) for official diagnoses. ICD-11

The ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision) is a global diagnostic tool developed by the World Health Organization for classifying diseases, disorders, and health conditions, including mental and behavioral disorders, used for clinical, research, and public health purposes. It's used worldwide, especially by countries outside the U.S., and serves as the international standard for health data reporting and diagnostic coding. Click the link to the left to download a fully copy.

The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent over three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust. He explores innovative treatments—from neurofeedback and meditation to sports, drama, and yoga—that offer new paths to recovery by activating the brain’s natural neuroplasticity. The Haunted Self: Structural Dissociation and the Treatment of Chronic Traumatization

In this book, three leading researchers and clinicians share what they have learned from treating and studying chronically traumatized individuals across more than 65 years of collective experience. Based on the theory of structural dissociation of the personality in combination with a Janetian psychology of action, the authors have developed a model of phase-oriented treatment that focuses on the identification and treatment of structural dissociation and related maladaptive mental and behavioral actions. The foundation of this approach is to support patients in learning more effective mental and behavioral actions that will enable them to become more adaptive in life and to resolve their structural dissociation. This principle implies an overall therapeutic goal of raising the integrative capacity, in order to cope with the demands of daily life and deal with the haunting remnants of the past, with the “unfinished business” of traumatic memories.
